24.  Section 9 of the 1983 Act provides that the Registration Officers [appointed for every district and London Borough under Section 8] shall maintain (a) a register of parliamentary electors for each constituency or part of a constituency in the area for which they would be responsible and (b) a register of local government areas or parts of local government areas for which they acted. The Section further details what should be contained in the registers.[9]
