43.  In 2004, the Electoral Commission called for an end to all postal voting.[20] In a similar vein, and after the publishing of reports on various pilot schemes, the Electoral Commission, on 2 August 2007, called for an end to trials of telephone and internet voting until the Government had set out a strategy for modernising the electoral system and made it more secure.[21]
