Paragraph 78

The Law on the election of the governor of Gagauzia has no provisions about voting in the army except that “soldiers can cast their votes in the locality where the military unit is based”.[21] Bearing in mind the recommendations from the Code of Good Practice in Electoral Matters of the Venice Commission that “military personnel should vote at their place of residence whenever possible”, as well as that if this is impossible that “it is advisable that they be registered to vote at the polling station nearest to their duty station”,[22] it would be advisable to amend and precisely define the provisions on army voting accordingly. The question is: who are the members of the electoral office of the polling stations in the army? This deserves attention and should be addressed in the election law.
