The reconciliation of ballots in polling stations has been assessed as raising problems during the last 2005 parliamentary elections. It was observed that polling station members had sometimes difficulties filling in protocol forms, and that there were uncertainties as to what modalities should apply when figures did not add up. It is important that the rules for recording figures are clear and that actions are taken if there are unacceptable discrepancies.
