In addition to that, the Law on political parties used to have as a requirement that the party could show more than 5000 members from at least half of the districts of the country. The new Draft law on political parties and socio-political organisations of Moldova has brought this requirement further. A party representing the Gagauz would therefore fail to register, since they are represented in a concentrated geographical area only. This is in itself a violation of minority rights.
