Election witnesses

(1) Each party whose provincial list of candidates has been published can send two election witnesses entitled to vote to every local elections authority and to every special elections authority. The election witnesses have to be made known to the district elections authority in writing by the authorized recipient of the party or a person authorized by the authorized recipient not later than on the tenth day before the election day; each polling witness receives from the municipal returning officer, in Vienna from the district returning officer, an admission slip which authorizes the witness to enter the polling station and which has to be shown upon entering the polling station of the elections authority.

(2) The election witnesses act only as representatives of the party taking part in the election; they do not have the right to influence the election procedure.
The election witnesses are not bound to secrecy in what concerns the facts which become known to them during their activity.
