(1) (Amended, SG No. 39/2016, effective 26.05.2016) Elections shall be conducted on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage in a secret ballot and shall ensure free expression of voters’ will. Voting shall be compulsory, shall be performed by the voter in person, and shall represent a discharge of the voter’s civic duty.

(2) Each voter shall be entitled to a single vote.

(3) (New, SG No. 39/2016, effective 26.05.2016) No person may participate in one type of election in more than one capacity: as a candidate, observer, election agent, representative of a party, coalition or nomination committee, member of an election commission, attendant or other such.
