Article 53
 

1 The constituent sitting of the newly elected National Council shall take place on the seventh Monday following the election. At this sitting, the first task shall be the validation of the results of the election. The National Council shall be held to be constituted as soon as the election of at least a majority of its members has been declared valid. The National Council shall determine the procedural rules in its regulations.1


2 Any person bearing an election certificate from their cantonal government shall have the right to a seat and to a vote at this sitting, but not to vote on the validity of their own election.


3 In the event of substitution or of by-elections or supplementary elections, a newly elected member may participate in the sitting only if their election has been declared to be valid.2
