Paragraph 50

The minimum age for standing for election to the Parliament is reduced from 25 years to 18 years (Law on Parliamentary Elections Article 10). This is a positive development as it enlarges the suffrage. In the same vein, the Law on Presidential Elections (Article 7) now allows independent candidates to run for President, which is in line with international standards, Paragraph 7.5 of the OSCE Copenhagen Document, and previous ODIHR recommendations. Both of these legislative amendments follow from the 2017 constitutional reforms.
