Similarly, according to Article 196 of the Public Official Election Act of the Republic of Korea, the President may postpone an election (for President or National Assembly) and the head of the competent regional election commission (for a local election) may postpone an election in the case of a natural disaster, terrestrial upheaval or any other [un]avoidable circumstances."
