The knowledge of the dates of elections allows stakeholders to plan their time-line for campaigning, recruiting personnel for campaign activities and is linked to civil contracts with the media and other companies responsible for producing campaign material. Postponing an election is not comparable to a situation where elections are brought forward due to the death of the incumbent or for other reasons. Postponing elections past the electoral mandate results in a loss of legitimacy of the elected institutions.
