The Electoral Code makes no provision for the possibility of a candidate to correct a defect in documents. Candidates should not be denied registration based on a defect in documents where the defect can be corrected in a timely manner. Additionally, inaccuracies in candidate registration documents can be used to de-register a candidate during the campaign, even after formal registration. Other reasons for de-registration have centered on violations during the campaign (see “Electoral Campaigns and Finances”).
