Article 1
 

Right to vote and eligibility


Every Icelandic citizen who has reached the age of 18 and is domiciled in Iceland is eligible to vote in parliamentary elections to the Althing when elections take place.


All Icelandic citizens who have reached the age of 18 and who are domiciled in Iceland are eligible to vote:


a. for a period of eigh years from the time when they moved their domicile from ICELAND, counting from 1 December prior to the date of the election;


b. after the date referred to in item (a), provided that they have applied for it according to further rules laid down in Article 2.
