Article 192 of the Criminal Code criminalises vote-buying by a candidate for national or local office, as well as his/her spouse, close relatives, proxies or authorised representatives. ODIHR and the Venice Commission note with satisfaction that under the new Criminal Code in force since January 2019 the criminal offence of vote-buying is subject to public prosecution, which addresses a prior ODIHR recommendation.
