Right to be elected


(1) The right to be elected municipal councillors and mayors shall vest in the Bulgarian citizens who have attained the age of 18 years by election day inclusive, are not interdicted and do not serve a custodial sentence and have resided in the respective settlement for at least the last 6 months.
(2) The right to be elected municipal councillor shall furthermore vest in any citizen of a Member State of the European Union, who is not a Bulgarian citizen, does not hold the citizenship of any State which is not a Member State of the European Union, has attained the age of 18 years by election day, is not interdicted, does not serve a custodial sentence, enjoys a long-term or permanent residence status for the Republic of Bulgaria, has resided in the respective settlement for at least the last six months, is not deprived of the right to be elected in the Member State of citizenship.
