In any case, the minimum voting age should be the same for all citizens. Distinctions based on marital status constitute discrimination between them. In Hungary, however, married citizens of 16 years or older are allowed to vote, while the minimum voting age for all other citizens is 18 years. Such a distinction falls short of international obligations.
