Like the current Code, the draft Code sets donation limits (Article 57). In general, donation limits aim to avoid political actors' dependency on wealthy interests and prevent buying political favours through campaign donations. These purposes need to be achieved without jeopardising the political parties' ability to raise funds from citizens and the freedom of citizens to donate as a form of civic engagement and democratic participation.
