(1) The financing of the electoral campaign, directly or indirectly, by natural persons who are not Romanian citizens or by legal persons having a nationality other than Romanian is prohibited, with the exception that the electoral campaign may be financed by citizens of the Member States of the European Union having their domicile in Romania and holding the capacity as member of the political party to the electoral campaign of which they contribute financially.

(2) The sums thus received shall be confiscated and shall be entered as income to the state budget.
