Section 101
 

(1) Closing down of the voting at the polling station, the preliminary and final counting of votes and reporting to the Minister for the Interior and Health on the vote shall take place in accordance with the rules of Part 9 regarding general elections, subject to the modifications implied by the character of the vote, but see subsection (2).


(2) A ballot paper, including an advance ballot paper, shall be invalid if


(i) it is blank;


(ii) the voter's vote has not been marked with a cross on the ballot paper in accordance with section 99(3) or other such marking;


(iii) the ballot paper is assumed not to have been handed out at the polling station;


(iv) the advance ballot paper is assumed not to have been procured by the Minister for the Interior and Health;


(v) an advance voting envelope contains something else or more than one ballot paper; or,


(vi) the ballot paper has been given a special mark of identification.


(3) Following presentation to the Parliamentary Scrutineers’ Committee, the Minister for the Interior and Health may lay down detailed rules for the assessment of ballot papers.
