The very high number of political parties appears as linked, at least partially, to the system of public financing. It should be noted that limiting public financing to those parties which obtain a certain percentage of votes does not go against international standards, as long as the threshold is not unreasonably high. The limitation of beneficiaries of public financing could thus be a way to avoid a proliferation of parties weighing excessively on the state budget.
