The election system for local elections was substantially amended on 9 December 2005 (for Tbilisi City Council) and on 23 December 2005 (for other ‘Representative bodies of local self-government – Sakrebulos’). These amendments have been adopted in the wider context of a reform of the legislation pertaining to local government.
