As underlined in the previous Joint Opinion,[14] it is recommended that the number of signatures required to nominate a candidate be reduced. In the March 2008 amendments, this recommendation was implemented for presidential candidates and for non-parliamentary parties participating in parliamentary elections (number reduced from 50,000 to 30,000), but not in local elections. It is thus recommended that this threshold for local elections (Article 117.3) likewise be amended.
