According to Article 36 (1), “Direct or indirect funding or material support of any kind for the electoral campaign of candidates in an election and electoral contestants by foreign countries, foreign, international or joint enterprises, institutions, organisations, as well as by natural persons who are not citizens of the Republic of Moldova is prohibited." This Article as it stands now is too broad and limits also legitimate efforts by international organisations promoting democracy and pluralism.
