Article 36 (1) states that “Direct or indirect funding or material support in any kind for electoral campaigns of candidates in an election and electoral contestants by foreign countries, foreign, international or joint enterprises, institutions, organisations as well as by natural persons who are not citizens of the Republic of Moldova is prohibited. Such funds shall be confiscated to the state budget.” The Joint Recommendations commented that the Article is very broad.
