Electoral systems for local elections

Article 47 of the draft law on local elections establishes two separate electoral systems for local elections. Under Article 47(1), in local “administrative-territorial units with a population of five thousand and above, local elections are held under the proportional representation system”. Article 47(2) provides, for local “administrative-territorial units with a population of up to five thousand, local elections are held by the majority system”.
