Election day

Regular general elections to the Althing shall take place no later than by the end of the electoral term. The start and the end of the electoral term shall be the same weekday of the month counting from the turn of the month, even though individual elections may not have taken place on that date.

The Ministry of Justice shall, however, announce when the regular general elections to the Althing will take place.

The electoral term is four years.
