Candidature
It is not necessary that the eligibility of the candidates is proven before the senior electoral commission or before the National Electoral Commission, but Althing determines the eligibility of those candidates who are elected, while at the same time determining whether newly elected members of Althing have otherwise been duly put forward and elected.
