The relevant sections of the Code dealing with the voter lists have been significantly amended to introduce a procedure for maintaining, updating and deleting data from the voters’ list. New Articles (31(28-b) and 41(1)) were added giving the SEC the sole responsibility for maintaining and updating the lists based on data extracted from birth registries, as well as registries of residence and citizenship maintained by various state agencies. In addition, the SEC has been given the authority to inspect the records concerned and to request additional information from the relevant institutions.
