Article 42
 

(1) No later than 45 days before the date of the elections, any voter registered in the Electoral Register with his/her domicile can address, to the mayor of the administrative-territorial unit of his/her residence, through mail or in person, a written application, dated and signed, including his/her surname, fi rst name and domicile, in order to be registered in the Electoral Register with the residential address, for the ballot in question, accompanied by a copy of his/her ID document and a copy of the proof of residence.


(2) Starting with 1 April of the year in which parliamentary elections are scheduled, but no later than 48 hours after the beginning of the electoral period, voters domiciled in the country and residing abroad, as well as those domiciled abroad can register in the Electoral Register with their address abroad for the ballot in question, based on a written application, dated and signed, including their surname, fi rst name, personal identifi cation number, accompanied by a copy of their ID document and a copy of the document proving their residence, issued by the foreign authorities, or of the passport, while mentioning the country of their domicile, sent by mail or fi led with the respective diplomatic mission or consulate.


(3) Each voter registered in the Electoral Register with his/her domicile or residence abroad is assigned to a single polling station.


(4) The models for the applications referred to in paragraphs (1) and (2) are established through decision of the Permanent Electoral Authority.


(5) The voters registered in the Electoral Register with their domicile in the country and with their residence abroad, as well as those with their domicile abroad, shall vote only in the polling station to which they have been assigned, with the exceptions referred to by this law.


(6) The voters referred to in paragraph (5), who have changed their domicile or residence abroad after the expiry of the deadline set in paragraph (2), shall vote only in the polling stations organised with Romania’s diplomatic mission, consular offi ces, consular sections and cultural institutes abroad.
