Revising political party and campaign finance legislation with a view to bringing it in closer conformity with international standards and good practice should be considered a priority.11 During the expert visit, many interlocutors regarded the need to address insufficient regulation and oversight in this area as urgent and more fitting with the stated objective of enhancing the integrity of political actors and elected officials than a reform of the electoral system.
