In this respect, it should be recalled that international standards clearly advocate (partial) public support for political parties, including parties not represented in parliament, “as a potential means of preventing corruption, to support the important role played by political parties and to remove undue reliance on private donors”, provided that the legislature seeks to create “a balance between public and private contributions as the source for political party funding”.
