Specifically, with regard to elections, important decisions such as fixing their date require sufficient foresight. The principle of the stability of electoral law discussed by the Venice Commission in the Code of Good Practice on Electoral Matters (CDL-AD(2002)023rev2-cor) and notably the Interpretative Declaration on the Stability of the Electoral Law (CDL-AD(2005)043) is applicable by analogy to important decisions related to elections.
