The new Article 27 para 6(1) of the Law treats members of councils and governing bodies like civil servants for the purpose of declaring assets. While it is valid to expect such persons to make some declaration relevant to their role it must be consistent with political rights and the principle of proportionality should be applied. Moreover, the proposed text could blur the line between political parties and the public (state) service.
