In this judgment, the ECtHR rejected the arguments of the Moldovan government in support of the restriction of the right to stand for dual nationals and found this restriction to be in breach of Article 3 of Protocol 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights. It should also be recalled that OSCE participating States have committed themselves to respect the right of citizens to seek political or public office without discrimination.12
