To the extent that a ban or restriction on re-election may affect the right and the capacity of citizens to hold those in power accountable, it should be emphasized that the citizens’ ability to hold those in power accountable is always limited by legal conditions related to suffrage regulations, such as age, citizenship, legal capacity, among others, and by the rules that regulate the right to stand for office and access to the ballot or nomination rules.
