In Portugal, if more than 10% of the capital of an enterprise is held by the holder of a political office, that enterprise is not permitted to respond to calls for tender for the supply of goods or services in the context of a commercial or industrial activity involving contracts with the state or any other public collective entity. Holders of public office may not act as arbitrators or experts, remunerated or otherwise, in any proceedings to which the state or any other public collective entity is a party.
