In line with previous ODIHR recommendations, the draft law does not maintain the provisions on the ad hoc parliamentary committee responsible for overseeing media that was previously criticized by ODIHR for duplicating the jurisdiction of the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) on overseeing media coverage of election campaign. However, the legal framework does not regulate the principles and scope of monitoring the media performance during election campaign. It is recommended that the AEM monitors media performance in order to ensure a level playing field in campaigning in media.
