A different scenario takes place when a state of emergency or war is formally declared in all the country: in those cases, many Constitutions envisage the possibility of a proper extension of the Parliament in office and to postpone the elections (this is not the case for the constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic). Several constitutions also limit the possibility of adopting constitutional amendments or legislation during states of emergency (this is the case for Kyrgyzstan: see Article 80 of the Constitution).
