Section 88

Counting of votes received by candidates

The total number of votes received by the candidates is counted so that the votes cast for the candidates of the parties forming an electoral alliance are counted for the said electoral alliance, the votes cast for the candidates of a party that does not belong to an electoral alliance are counted for the said party, and the votes cast for the candidates of a constituency association in a joint list are counted for the said joint list.

If it turns out that a candidate is ineligible or deceased or has also been nominated as a candidate in the same elections to the European Parliament in another Member State of the European Union, the votes received by that candidate shall, however, be counted for the electoral alliance, party or joint list which the candidate is a member of.
