As a general rule, election day registration should be avoided, if possible, and should not take place at the polling station. Although inclusive, it is at odds with international standards. Not surprisingly, voter registration at polling stations was criticised by electoral observers in the case of elections in Azerbaijan, Belarus and Russia, but it was also possible, for instance, in national elections of the Czech Republic.
