Regulations concerning the establishment of political parties should be carefully considered to ensure they do not infringe the right of free association in political parties and the principle of political pluralism. In Bulgaria, for instance, the law forbids the creation of political parties along “ethnic, racial or religious lines”, which is contrary at least to European standards and practices.
