The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has emphasized the need to ensure that electoral campaigns are fully accessible to voters with disabilities and has recommended that states facilitate assistance for those persons to be electoral candidates (CRPD/C/SWE/CO/1). Much remains to be done here in order to provide persons with disabilities with the required support. In cooperation with disability organisation, efforts should be intensified to promote the involvement of persons with disabilities also at this stage of the electoral cycle.
