Education should allow citizens to confront the new digital reality, not just in terms of the functions of technology, but also in terms of its effects, teaching them to distinguish between the important and the irrelevant, between truth and lies. Beyond the educational strategies of the state, companies and civil society organisations could make alliances both to educate internet users and to evaluate the effectiveness of the controls implemented by companies.
