Paragraph 95

In this connection, it must be noted that the characteristics of the digital environment pose serious challenges both for the design and implementation of codes of journalistic ethics and for the verification of the veracity of the information, since digital channels favour immediacy and anonymity over veracity, accuracy and responsibility. Online-specific issues and considerations should be appropriately embedded in the existing ethical codes, or digital journalistic ethics codes should be adopted. States, EMBs, media and platforms should also be encouraged to collaborate on verification projects.
