In addition, the amendments provide for an obligation to include a gender-balance list in a manner that one out of every three candidates in the sequence in the candidates’ list has to be represented of the less-represented gender and no gender may be represented in the list by more than 65 per cent (instead of 70 per cent in the current Code). Such rules at both national and local levels are welcome and respond to international standards in the matter.
