The Hungarian government argues that this modification is designed to target what it calls “fake parties”, which run only to obtain public funding. This is also a legitimate goal. However, in the present political environment, , opposition parties and NGOs consider that this reform is aimed at favouring the present majority and not the best way to reach this goal.
