positive change brought about by the amendments is the lowering of the election threshold necessary at the national level for a political party to enter Parliament, foreseen in Article 33 of Law No. 2839, from 10% to 7% (Article 1 of Law No. 7393). The threshold does not apply to independent candidates. Türkiye had before the last elections the highest election threshold within the Council of Europe and the OSCE (10%) and it keeps one of the highest ones with 7%.
