Registers Iceland shall publicise in the Government Gazette and in the media that electoral registers have been compiled, cf. Article 27, as soon as their compilation is complete and no later than [36]1) days before polling day. The official notice shall state that Registers Iceland provides access to information from the electronic electoral register to those entering a personal identification number (kennitala) on its website and on the website of the National Electoral Commission.
Following publication of the official notice under paragraph 1, Registers Iceland sends the electoral registers electronically to the municipal councils, free of charge. Registers Iceland may issue directions for the delivery of electoral registers to municipalities and their electronic access to electoral registers. Electoral registers shall be laid open for inspection by the public at the offices of municipal councils or another suitable location no later than 21 days before polling day.
After receiving the National Electoral Commission’s proposals, the Minister shall issue a regulation further detailing the information to be published from the electoral register on the Commission’s website, whether publication shall also be permitted on any other website than specified in paragraph 1, and the laying open of the electoral register for inspection.
