The draft Code does not stipulate the grounds for the rejection of candidate registration, nor does it seem to explicitly provide an opportunity and time to remedy shortcomings in the documents presented for the registration. This is not fully in line with international standards stipulating that the candidate registration procedures should not be designed in such a way as to potentially lead to an unreasonable barrier to candidacy. In order to set firm legal grounds for registration and possible rejection and ensure that the legal framework creates the necessary conditions for inclusiveness of candidate registration for each type of election, it is recommended to add such provisions in the Code.
