On 3 October 2023, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova admitted an appeal by the independent Members of Parliament of the (former) Şor Party that was found to be unconstitutional on 19 June 2023 and declared as unconstitutional Article 16(2)(e) of the Electoral Code, which had introduced the ineligibility to be elected discussed in the (first) Joint Opinion. The next day, on 4 October 2023, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted, with the votes of the majority in Parliament and in two readings held on the same day, new amendments including new provisions on ineligibility to be elected. This took place two days before the deadline for the registration of candidates and one month before the next local elections called for 5 November 2023.
